Unforgettable

Unforgettable 09/10/11

My original thought for this blog was to ask people if they remember where they were the morning of September 11, 2001. But I realized that this was a day that was permanently etched into all of our minds, so of course people remember. Then I thought I could sit here and write a long drawn out story about this day and what it means but I don't want to do that either. But I also can't leave this day unmentioned.

Ten years ago the unimaginable happened. Two planes crashed into the World Trade Center, another into the Pentagon and yet another into an open field. And the entire world watched it happen on the news. For some of us, that day was the first day we really paid attention to what was going on in the world around us. These crashes were one of the worst tragedies many of us had ever seen. Thousands of lives were lost that day and millions of others were affected both directly and indirectly. We have all been forever changed because of that day, whether we realize it or not.

On September 11th, let's all just take a moment to remember. Remember the men and women who died that day. Remember the families who lost a mother or father or son or daughter. Remember those who lost friends and coworkers. And remember the men and women who stepped up -who may have stepped out of a job description, who may have stepped out of a comfort zone or who may have stepped up to do their job- and joined the effort to save many lives and became heroes. And remember those who are still doing that today.
